Second semester is underway and brings with it some big changes. My classes now include Algebra (an alternative to Algebra I for kids who need a little more support), Algebra II, and PreCalc. Each class operates a little different based on the needs and expectations of the students, but the common theme of having fun while "earning it" is still how we operate. I encourage all students and parents to look through the web pages for your respective classes. Between the syllabus and website, 99% of all questions will be answered here!
The biggest change this semester is that I have "a new, more powerful apprentice."
Rise, Darth Abacus... I mean, ... Ms. McCreary!
She will be running most of the daily show in all classes, and is doing great so far. In fact, I am writing this while with family in ND and she's already taken over! So, without further rambling from me, here's a message from our newest Dark Lady of the Sith... I mean, ... math teacher:
Just a hop over the border, I grew up in Gillette, Wyoming. I went to Black Hills State University after graduating in 2013 where I am majoring in Math Education and minoring in History Education. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking, and skiing. Currently I am learning how to snowboard so if you ever see someone wrecking down the slopes, that’s probably me!
I am excited to have this opportunity to teach in the Spearfish High School. For most of the semester, I will be “taking over the class”. If you have any questions at all, I am free before and after school. I also am available through email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Communication is key through this process so just contact me and let me know your comments, concerns, and questions.
As the semester moves on, please remember to contact me with any questions you may have. Email is a great way to go, since my phone and I have an ongoing war of wills. Also, students and parents can join Remind and have text/mms access to me anytime! Cheers and good luck with the new term!
