Over the next few weeks I will be updating the website, but much of what you find here will remain the same for the 2017-2018 school year, if you have not been in my classes before and want to read up. A couple items for kids to be aware of moving into August:
- A grade of "C" in the previous course is required to enter upper-level math classes. Trust me, it will be a miserable battle if you try to grind through PreCalc with a D in Alg II. You can go back and re-take courses for a higher grade, which also helps with SD Opportunity scholarship.
- I strongly recommend students brush up on their math skills before school starts. It's sad (and a little funny) when someone drops PreCalc on day two when we review quadratics. Students entering Algebra II can review Algebra and students entering PreCalc can review Alg II at KhanAcademy using these links.
- My classes use Remind for a whole pile of reasons. Daily homework, school/class announcements, extra tips and tricks, or helping students one-on-one after hours. App and signup info are on the course pages. Students and parents can join any time.
- Students can pick up their laptops at the mandatory class meetings/orientation the 3rd-4th week of August (dates TBD). I will probably be in my classroom by then if anyone wants to stop by or has questions.
