This week is INTERNATIONAL Games Week. You heard right, geeks across the globe will get their buttons-mashing, dragon-slaying, table-flipping groove on in hobby stores and libraries. To celebrate, Game Club will host open games during lunch and Spartan Time all week long. We have a plethora of games, most are simple to pick up after your first play. Have a battle royale with King of Tokyo (dibs on the giant space penguin), ruin a friendship by building a wall across Catan, or force a shotgun wedding in Trailer Park Wars. The BHSU library will be hosting games all week, as well.
Also, our weekly meeting of Game Club (every Thursday after school) will be partaking in Angry Accusation Night, where we play Resistance, Coup, and Saboteur. Half the players at the table are bad guys and scheming to ruin our lives, but no one knows who's on what side. This is a great night to get new players involved, because the game is just about arguing and accusing (things teenagers excel at).
Hope to see you all there!
Finally, we have our fall parent-teacher conferences this Wednesday. I always encourage students to come with their parents because it makes for a much more productive and honest conversation. Plus, I usually get to brag the kid up to their parents, so they have kudos points to cash in for a new phone or some such. What I do ask is that all parents please read through the website prior to conferences, particularly the Grading/Assessment, Contact and FAQ pages. It saves soooo much time. I look forward to seeing folks this week and to seeing how the kids progress the rest of the semester. Seize the Carp!
