Aside from a couple of kids who gave up months ago (it's sad, but it happens), the current Algebra II crew has really stepped up their game. Nearly half the class has A's and B's, tied for best performance I've ever seen! Every day is full of jokes and insights as kids are putting it all together and coasting toward the finish line. Confidence is high and I'm very proud of how far they've come!
PreCalc seems to have gone the opposite direction, with the roughest slump I have ever seen in this course. The unit on trig functions really shook our confidence and we have been slow to regain it. This crew is still strangely reluctant to ask questions or get assistance outside of class, but the last few units should boost our morale moving into finals, as they are the easiest of the course.
Applied Math, in its first year, is holding steady with majority Bs and Cs, the best grades many have ever had in math! I cannot stress enough how proud I am of the improvement in organization, perseverance, and problem-solving these kids have shown. The conversations we have in class wouldn't have been possible as freshmen and sophomores (the academic ones, not distracted ones).
Moving towards finals, here's a few things for everyone to keep in mind:
